Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix

On Friday March 15, a select number of Year 9-11 students were given the opportunity of attending the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix at Albert Park. Attending the event’s ‘Driving Learning’ day, these students had the opportunity to engage with representatives from various universities, TAFEs, plus representatives from the military, Victoria Police, and various Science/Technology/Engineering industry companies. The girls had the opportunity to discuss future career ambitions with these representatives relating to these fields, and were able to immerse themselves in cutting edge technology such as virtual reality, motion detection, drones and coding of drones, and various items all connected to the ‘internet of things’. The girls were also able to enjoy the on-track activities as they occurred. A number were able to generate opportunities for their own career ambitions, and this is the biggest positive to come from such a day. They all represented the college well, and are to be congratulated for their behaviour and engagement on the day.
